Chartwell School’s Summer CORE Program is academically focused and open to any student who would benefit from specialized instruction or would like to maintain progress achieved over the preceding academic year. Our summer program is open to Chartwell and non-Chartwell students, Grades 1-8.
It is also a unique opportunity for students not enrolled in the year-long program at Chartwell to benefit from a research-based, student-centered education.
Our goal is to guide children toward becoming healthy, curious, and confident learners. And, for students planning to attend Chartwell in the fall, the summer program is also a great way to become acquainted with our faculty, other students, and our expansive campus. This head start on academic and social learning ensures a smooth and successful transition in the fall.
Students rotate between Literacy Skills, Math Skills, and a STEAM/Makers curriculum:
Literacy Skills: Students develop reading skills, reading comprehension skills, writing, organizational skills, and study skills.
Math Skills: Students work on reviewing math concepts and growing their skills and proficiency.
STEAM/Makers Program: Students practice principles of science through technology, engineering, art, and mathematics while answering an essential question using a hands-on and project-based-learning model.
The Afternoon Reading Clinic provides the opportunity for students to benefit from individualized reading tutorials and significantly increase their reading strategies.
Due to popular demand, the Reading Clinic is offered in both sessions. Students may enroll for both sessions if desired. The second hour of the clinic will be spent enjoying outdoor activities including mountain biking, hiking, or cooperative games.
Note: Only students enrolled in the CORE program are eligible to enroll in the Reading Clinic.
In addition to the Reading Clinic, Chartwell's summer program offers afternoon enrichment activities. This summer, we are offering Studio Art, Theater, Robotics, Digital Music, and Fitness Skills. Afternoon enrichment activities are from 1:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m., Monday - Thursday and have an additional fee.
Please note: We have currently moved to a waitlist for the On-Campus CORE Summer Program. If you are interested in attending, please complete the registration form and you will be contacted within 3-5 days to confirm if space is available. No fees will be charged until a spot for your child has been confirmed. Thank you for your interest in Chartwell's Summer Program.
