Students in grades 2-5 receive music instruction one day per week with an emphasis on the Orff-Schulwerk educational approach. Orff builds musicianship through the integration of all aspects of music, structured and unstructured movement, singing, percussion instruments, recorders, speech and drama. Carl Orff professes: “Imitation, experimentation, and personal expression occur naturally as students become confident, life-long musicians and creative problem solvers.”

Beginning Guitar class focuses on learning to tune the acoustic guitar, basic strumming patterns, 10 to 12 chords, ensemble playing, reading lead/lyric sheets and learning to pick melodies.

There are two performance opportunities during the spring of the school year, the A Cappella Showcase for singers and Grandparents Day for all the students.
