For 35 years, Chartwell School has been the leader on the Central California Coast in educating children with language-based learning differences, including dyslexia. Chartwell's Summer CORE Program is academically focused and open to students who would benefit from specialized instruction or would like to maintain progress achieved over the preceding academic year. It is also a unique opportunity for students not enrolled in the year-long program at Chartwell to benefit from a research-based, student-centered education.
Our goal is to guide children toward becoming healthy, curious, and confident learners. The summer program is also a great way for students entering Chartwell in the fall to become acquainted with our faculty, their peers, and our “green” campus. This head start ensures a smooth and successful transition.
Literacy Skills: students develop reading skills, reading comprehension skills, writing, organization and study skills.
STEAM/Makers program: students practice principles of science through technology, engineering, art, and mathematics while answering an essential question using a hands-on and project-based-learning model.
*Optional: CORE participants may also elect to enroll for a two week Afternoon Enrichment Reading Clinic for an additional $500. See descriptions below.
$1,700 for four-week program
To enroll in the two week Reading Clinic a student MUST be enrolled in the morning CORE program.
The Afternoon Reading Clinic has been designed to provide the opportunity for students to benefit from a one-on-one reading tutorial. This additional hour will provide children the opportunity to significantly increase their reading strategies. Another hour will be spent enjoying outdoor activities including mountain biking, hiking, or cooperative games.
$500 for two week program
