High School Athletics
With an emphasis on the social, emotional, and physical benefits of athletics and team sports, the Chartwell athletics program focuses on sportsmanship, leadership on and off the field or court, and commitment to one's team. The program strives to develop critical thinking during practice and competitions, self-discipline and self-regulation, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be part of a team.
At the high school level, students learn how to balance academics, athletics, and extracurriculars. Students are expected to be strong self-advocates and communicators and embody the program's core values both on and off the field. Students are encouraged to explore new sports and activities. In addition to our team offerings, Chartwell also offers a variety of athletics clubs; flag football, street hockey, skateboarding, surfing, and rock climbing. If a Chartwell student is interested in introducing a new sport or club to campus, they are encouraged to work alongside the athletic department in bringing their ideas to life.
Beginning in the 2025-2026 school year, Chartwell athletes at the high school level will compete with 9 other teams in the Santa Lucia Division. Becoming a member of CIF-CCS is a monumental moment in Chartwell athletics history and is a testament to the hard work and dedication players and coaches have put in since the program's founding in 2020. Being a part of CIF-CCS provides Chartwell student-athletes continued opportunities to compete at a high level, engage with schools similar in size and ability on a regular schedule, and experience the physical, social, and educational benefits of being a high school student-athlete.
