Social Emotional Learning

Chartwell School believes strongly that social-emotional learning is an important component of the curriculum. Social cognition is often taken for granted as a skill that naturally develops, but it is an area that is underdeveloped in a number of people. Chartwell uses RULER to support this learning.

The RULER program was developed by the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence. It made up of evidence-based tools designed to enhance the emotional intelligence of school leaders, teachers and staff, and students and their families. RULER includes four primary tools: the Charter, Mood Meter, Meta-Moment, and Blueprint. Each is based on scientific research and helps children and adults develop their emotional intelligence skills.
