Clubs and Activities

There are a number of small-group student activities offered to Lower and Middle School students. Lower School students choose an elective class for Club Friday. These classes meet over lunch for 30 minutes each Friday and they vary each trimester. Classes have included:

  • claymation
  • gardening
  • knitting and crocheting
  • nature club
  • glee club
  • chess
  • juggling
  • Legos
  • board games
  • Because We Care Club (philanthropy)

Middle School students may elect to join the following activities:

  • Leadership Team, which plans school-wide events
  • Big Buddies, which pairs Middle School students with Lower School students for reading and mentoring
  • Dance Committee, which plans and organizes Middle School dances
Students also attend elective classes of their choice throughout the year, such as yearbook, drama, dance/cheer, study skills, guitar, and arts and crafts.

A separate club that meets off-campus on the weekends and is open to both Middle and Lower School students is Robotics. This club collaborates to build an underwater Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) as part of the MATE (Marine Advanced Technology Education) ROV competition each spring. Students plan, design, and build an ROV from PVC pipe and bilge pump motors to complete a mission designed by MATE. They form a company, complete with roles and job descriptions, and present their product at the underwater competition in May.The club meets once per week during recess to plan the weekend robotic building activity. Students gather at private homes on designated weekends to build the ROV.
