Every student at Chartwell is enrolled in a Wellness and Fitness class which meets anywhere from 2 to 5 days per week, depending on the academic schedule. Students begin each class with a warm-up and stretch, they work on skill drills and a short competitive game, and conclude with a feedback session.
Many Chartwell students are gifted athletes who excel in this area, while others have difficulty with gross and fine motor skills. All ability levels are included and lessons are structured according to the student’s ability to perform.
Chartwell School participates with other independent schools on the Monterey Peninsula in IPAL, or the Inter-Parochial Athletic League. Sports include:
- soccer (September-November)
- bowling (November-December)
- flag football (November-December)
- basketball (January-February).
In addition, most students participate in the Big Sur International Marathon's "Just Run" program.
