Judy Gaughf Appointed As Chartwell School Dean of Students
SEASIDE, Calif. -- Judy Parsons Gaughf, a 17-year Chartwell faculty veteran, has been appointed to the newly created position of Dean of Students. According to Nora Lee, Head of School, the administrative position is designed to enhance communication between the school, students, teachers, and the parents. The Dean of Students also takes on the responsibility for all student behavioral, social or developmental concerns, as well as academic assessment of all students.
The decision to appoint Judy Gaughf as the Dean of Students was a natural conclusion. As Ms. Lee explained, "I feel Judy Gaughf has the experience, knowledge and commitment the position requires, but most importantly, she has the compassion and dedication of wanting to help our students reach their full potential."
Judy has been on the Chartwell scene as long as the school has been at its present Seaside site. The doors opened Sept. 18, 1985 and Judy welcomed her first class of students. She enjoys working with teachers new to the field and has been instrumental through a grant by AT&T Pebble Beach Charities in documenting the Chartwell curriculum that has made such a remarkable difference in the school experience for many students with complex learning styles.
Judy first joined Chartwell following a five-year teaching career in special education in the state of Washington where she earned a M.Ed. degree at the University of Washington. She completed her undergraduate work at Cal Poly and is a graduate of Monterey High School. Judy and her husband, Patt, and their two children, Shannon and Tanner, live in her hometown of Monterey.
