Livable Buildings Award, 2009 – Center for the Built Environment at UC Berkeley
Non-Public School (NPS) Certification (10 commendations, highest number to date), 2008 – California Department of Education
Green Superhero Award (to Douglas Atkins), 2008 – United States Green Building Council of Northern California
Innovation Award for Construction Techniques and Materials, 2007 – California Association of General Contractors
Six-year term WASC accreditation with 12 merits, 2006 – Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) 12 Merits include: caring expert faculty; supportive parents; strong leadership; collaborative faculty; small class size; belief in students’ ability to overcome experiences of failure and become self-advocates; clear, focused mission; language training program; Chartwell Education Plans for all students as a key basis for instruction; communication; strong financial base; focus on students; needs to transition to a mainstream setting; and a safe, nurturing environment.
